Jogobella's fruits

Did you know that…?
Mango
The mango tree is a symbol of abundance and prosperity. People in India use its leaves to decorate the room of a new-born child. And when they visit their friends, they take a basket full of mango as a visible sign of their friendship.

Mango is believed to be the food of the gods. The tree is a symbol of love, wealth, fertility and even immortality. In India, where the fruit most likely originated, people use mango tree leaves during wedding ceremonies to ensure prosperity and fertility for the bride and groom. Hindu people believe that happiness and children are a gift from the goddess Lakshmi.

Today mango is popular all over the world. There are more than 1000 species. Mango trees are huge and live long, some of the specimens are 300 years old. And they still bear fruit. They can grow 30 metres high, which is as high as a... 7-floor building! Can you imagine what mango picking must look like? Also the fruits themselves can be pretty big - a single "egg" can weigh half a kilo. Inside, there is a large flat pit, which can be fibrous and is hard to separate from the pulp. I wonder what would happen if we planted it in the ground...?
